Matchday 38 will bring the curtain down on the Liga BBVA season and there is the potential for drama near the bottom, with three teams vying to avoid the two relegation spots that have yet to be decided. Rayo Vallecano, R. Sporting and Getafe CF will be going all out to try to preserve their top-flight status for another year.
These are the results that the three clubs respectively need to stay up and send the other two down to the Liga Adelante:
17th Getafe (36 points)
The side from the Madrid suburbs are Benito Villamarin-bound and know that victory over Real Betis would seal safety irrespective of what happens elsewhere. In the event of a draw, their survival would hinge on neither Sporting nor Rayo winning.
18th Sporting (36 points)
The Asturians host Villarreal CF. They will be home and dry if they beat the Yellow Submarine and Getafe fail to win. A draw would be enough if Getafe are defeated and Rayo are unable to claim three points.
19th Rayo (35 point)
Already relegated Levante UD visit Vallecas on the last day. Paco Jemez's men can save their skin by getting a win, provided Getafe and Sporting are unable to do so. If Jemez's charges can only secure a point, however, Getafe and Sporting would both have to lose to keep Rayo up.
