Football and business came together at the Santiago Bernabéu on the occasion of the Real Madrid-Barcelona game, the setting chosen by the Liga de Fútbol Profesional to welcome business and cultural representatives from China, including executives from Huawei, Charm, Sockatyes and Sun Rain.

The Chinese delegation was welcomed by the LFP Marketing Director, Adolgo Bara; the Strategic Projects Director, Ignacio Trujillo; the Chinese Ambassador to Spain, Zhu Bangzao; and the LFP World Challenge Ambassador, Augusto César Lendoiro.

The meeting with the Chinese businesspeople was described by Lendoiro as "the step that LFP needed to take with all of Asia, and particularly with China, so that Spanish football, the best in the world, becomes known there". The Liga World Challenge ambassador described the Clásico as "the best opportunity to advertise our football around the world" and as "an indescribable spectacle that everyone should watch and enjoy".

The Chinese ambassador to Spain, Zhu Bangzao, expressed his satisfaction at "such an important presence of Chinese businesspeople at this game" and his certainty that "new business opportunities will come from this for companies in our country and Spain".
Shao Yang, representing Huawei, the biggest mobile telephony company in China and a LFP sponsor, said that the match, in addition to being attractive to television viewers, "is very advantageous for any advertiser".

Wu Lei, an executive at Charm, the most important telecoms multinational in China, said that the agreements reached with the Liga de Fútbol "allow the consolidation and strengthening of ties between Spanish and Chinese companies".

The presence of the Chinese delegation in the Real Madrid¬-Barcelona match is part of the expansion programme for Spanish football undertaken by LFP a year ago. The aim of the initiative is to internationalise the clubs and players of the Liga BBVA and Adelante.

As Javier Tebas has said on various occasions, "Football is an essential part of Spain's image overseas as a brand and a means to make Spanish companies known abroad and also to open up our country to foreign companies".

The Chinese delegation’s schedule on their trip to Madrid, in addition to the Real Madrid--Barcelona game, includes a visit to the Palacio de Liria and attendance at the LFP Awards Ceremony to be held on Monday 27 October.
