On Monday the Fundación del Fútbol Profesional and Garrigues Sports & Entertainment opened a debate on'The current issues of image rights in professional football'. Antonio Garrigues, president of Garrigues, Javier Tebas, president of the Liga de Fútbol Profesional (LFP) and Miguel Cardenal, Secretary of State for Sport were all present at the events inauguration.
Javier Tebas was grateful for the invitation from Garrigues, "where they are always generous to sport". "We must keep learning about sports rights, as it is in constant debate. The regulation of the economic boom in image rights, both individual and collectively, must be kept in mind", stated the head of the LFP.
For his part, Miguel Cardenal spoke of the work carried out by the Superior Sports Council (CSD) in this regard: "At the CSD we seek to promote research into all aspects of sport. Success does not only come from a strictly sporting structure, it is also complimented by contributions from areas such as medicine, economy and law".
Finally, Antonio Garrigues,stated that he considers the debate essential, above all in order to drive technological advance. "The law will regulate this changing situation. The legal world can contribute significantly", said the president of Garrigues.
