If something has stood out from the 2014/15 season in the Liga Adelante, it has been the goals. Some of them were truly works of art that will remain recorded in the history of the competition and in the memories of the fans and the clubs. But those goals didn’t come alone. There are a number of occasions where we have been able to witness and enjoy a feast of goals.

The most noteworthy and talked-about came in matchday 18 when R Valladolid CF beat FC Barcelona B 7-0 at the José Zorrilla. The Pucelanos easily overcame the Azulgrana, with doubles from full-back Óscar González and midfielder Johan Andrés Mojica. With such a dream result, the Vallisoletanos ended 2014 joyously in front of their own fans.

Valladolid seal the biggest thrashing of the 2014/15 season after beating Barcelona B 7-0
However, that wouldn't be the last time the Blanquivioletas would be involved in a thrashing. Four games later, in matchday 22, the Pucelanos won 5-1 away at RCD Mallorca. The hosts went in front, but the side managed by Joan Francesc Ferres 'Rubi' didn’t let their heads go down and were able to produce a stunning comeback. Among the goalscorers were once again Óscar and Mojica, but the real star on this occasion was Jonathan Pereira, who scored a hat-trick.

Another standout game that will go down in the history of Spanish football was the match in which CD Numancia and CD Lugo faced off in matchday 18, in which no less than 12 goals were scored. An epic game filled with emotion ended 6-6 and where both sides could have won the game. It was an exhibition of offensive football and the first game in the history of the Liga Adelante in which both teams scored six goals.

Numancia and Lugo stared in the match with most goals in the Liga Adelante after the said encounter ended 6-6

Just like Valladolid, Lugo is another team that has been involved in other thrashings. A side that clearly has its ups and downs, like the 4-3 victory against At Osasuna or the 5-1 defeat to Real Betis when they ran over the Galicians in the Benito Villamarín.

Another clash in which had a great ending was the match between Osasuna and Mallorca, after they shared 10 goals at the Iberostar Estadio, in which the Navarrans would once again star in a high-scoring encounter on matchday 5. The game finished 6-4 in the Rojillo's favour, a result that turned out to be vital in securing their survival at the end of the season.

In a similar manner, with eight goals scored, was the game between SD Ponferradina and Barca B, which ended 4-4. It was a vibrant and open game in which the hosts managed to come from behind thanks to a double from Yuri de Souza. Another game full of goals and emotion was the 5-3 in which UD Las Palmas overcame R Zaragoza on matchday 20. The Canarian side, who ended the game with three men fewer on the field, celebrated the victory and took three points that helped them achieve promotion to the Liga BBVA.

Lugo and Vallodolid are the two teams that have had most games with a high-scoring result

Finally, in this 2014/15 season, victories by a big margin for CE Sabadell and CD Leganés have also stood out with both games including seven goals. The Catalan side thrashed Albacete 6-1. In this match, Raúl Tamudo and Manuel Gato were the stars with two great doubles. For their part, the Madrid side had their moment in the penultimate game of the season, on matchday 41, winning in the Miniestadi 2-5 against Barca B thanks in part to a hat-trick from Javier Eraso.

There were the most-talked about results which we were able to see during the 2014/15 season, although many more stood out for their great goals. The quality of the players, the atmosphere created by the fans and the hard work day in and day out are the essential ingredients for the end result of these huge and noteworthy scorelines. We will have to wait a few months for the start of the new campaign, when possible the feast of goals will return once more.
