The Champion's Celebration at the Camp Nou

FC Barcelona took advantage of the last game of the Liga BBVA, played at the Camp Nou, in order to celebrate the title they won a week ago in style with a 0-1 win against Atlético Madrid. Players, coaches and staff celebrate the 23rd Liga BBVA in front of a packed stadium, following the 2-2 draw on the last day of the season against RC Deportivo.

Two years after winning their last Liga BBVA, everyone who is a part of the Catalan side answered the call of the fans to celebrate the success of the team led by Luis Enrique. Family members and players took to the stage as one by one, the champions received the applause of thousands of fans who watched the team of their affections won the title again, at the home stadium.

Within the celebrations, there was also time to pay tribute to Xavi Hernández, who said goodbye to the Barcelona fans in this game, as well as the side who he has played for his whole life. After lifting the league title, smiles and joy took centre stage of celebration that also had the typical lap of honour around the Camp Nou starring the players and their children.

There were also short statements from key characters, beginning with the coach Luis Enrique. "Thanks to everyone for the support, not only at the moment, but also a time when there may have been doubts. We will see you back here in 15 days as we aim to make Barcelona even bigger. ¡Visca el Barça!" he stated. Andrés Iniesta, thanked the fans for their support throughout the season before saying "thanks for everything, for so much, and for so many years of teaching”, to his team mate Xavi Hernández.

Then it was the turn of the night’s star to speak, and after watching a video of his career with Barcelona, he took the microphone: "Good evening everyone, thanks for everything. Thanks from the heart, I have been happy here for 17 seasons. We are the best team in the world whatever people say and I would like to thank my wife, my parents and my friends here. You have shown me unconditional support, it has been amazing. Thanks to everyone”, he stated tearfully.
