Ten things you may not know about CF Reus Deportiu

We bring you the lowdown on the Catalan side that have become the latest addition to Spain's second tier, after getting the better of Racing Club in the promotion playoff.

  • CF Reus Deportiu were founded 107 years ago on 23 November 1909.
  • The club will compete in the second tier for the first time in their history, after winning their promotion playoff against Racing Club.
  • The Catalan side plays at the Camp Nou Municipal which has a capacity of 5,000 and opened its doors in 1978.
  • The club has racked up 48 seasons in the Tercera Division and two in Segunda Division B.
  • Red and black are the colours of the Reus-based outfit. 
  • Edgar Hernandez is the star man and top goalscorer with 12 goals in the league and one in the cup.
  • The Copa del Rey last-32 clash against Atletico Madrid will live long in the memory, although Reus ended up losing 2-1 at home and 1-0 at the Vicente Calderon. 
  • Edgar Hernandez, Vitor and David Haro are the key men for Natxo Gonzalez, who has been in charge since 2014.
  • It is the coach's second spell with Reus, after his initial stint between 2003 and 2007. Gonzalez also guided D. Alaves to promotion to Segunda.
  • Reus pride themselves on placing faith in youth, with two teams at Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16 level. The club also boasts a women's team.
