- Cadiz CF make their return to the second tier following a six-year absence, after their last stay in Segunda Division came to an end in the 2009-10 season.
- A Dani Guiza strike handed Alvaro Cervera's men a 1-0 away victory in the second leg of their playoff decider against Hercules CF, a result which clinched promotion.
- Since losing out to CD Mirandes in the 2010/11 campaign, up until now, Cadiz had never tasted playoff success. Real Madrid Castilla and CD Lugo denied them in the 2011/12 season, whilst CE L'Hospitalet were their conquerors in the 2013/14 campaign. Meanwhile, in the previous year it was R.Oviedo and Athletic Club B who put pay to the club's promotion hopes.
- This season just gone did however turn out to be Cadiz's year, and after getting the better of Racing Club Ferrol, Real Racing Club Santander and Hercules , the mythical Carranza is once again poised to stage second-tier football.
- The club hosts a prestigious pre-season tournament which goes by the name of the Ramon de Carranza Trophy.
- Cadiz play in yellow and are known as the Yellow Submarine.
- Stars of the calibre of Magico Gonzalez, Pepe Mejias and Kiko Narvaez all plied their trade for the club.
- This will be the 38th season in which Cadiz compete in the Spanish second tier, which is now known as LaLiga2.
- In the 2016/2017 season, the Andalusians will go in search of a sixth promotion to the top tier, after the 1976/77, 1980/81, 1982/83, 1984/85 and 2004/05 campaigns all ended in returns to the promised land.
