Ten things you didn't know about Munir El Haddadi

The young FC Barcelona striker may live in the shadow of Messi and Neymar but he showed what he could do when given the chance against Athletic Club and Malaga CF.

• Although born in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, one of the most emblematic places in the Community of Madrid, Munir El Haddadi is of Moroccan descent. His father is from Morocco and his mother from Melilla. He arrived at FC Barcelona's La Masia in 2011, aged 16.

• Due to work commitments, his parents were unable to come and see him play in a Barca shirt until January 15, 2015, against RCD Espanyol, when he had already been playing at the club for six months

• He has always said that had he not become a footballer, he would have been a cop.

• Before joining the Catalan club, Munir turned out for CD Galapagar, Santana and Atlético de Madrid, who loaned him to Rayo Majadahonda U-18, from where FC Barcelona signed him.

• In his first season as Barca player he lifted two titles: The National League Championship with the Under 18s, where he scored 22 goals, and the title of Champions of Catalonia with the first team, when he scored in a 2-0 final victory over RCD Espanyol.

• Now he is fortunate to play alongside his idol, Lionel Messi.

• He was the sensation of the inaugural UEFA Youth League in 2014, where he finished as top scorer and top assists provider. One of his goals was scored from midfield.

• The first reports received by Barcelona defined him as "a wild player."

• He debuted with the Spanish national team on September 8, 2014 in the 5-1 win against Macedonia in the qualifiers for UEFA EURO 2016. He was called up to replace Diego Costa and tied himself to Spain, letting go of his option to represent Morocco.

• His favorite dish is paella and he is a lover of Italian cuisine.
