Headed goals have become a real feature of Real Madrid's play this season, as proved by the 16 goals which Zinedine Zidane's side have nodded home (an average of 0.57 headed goals per game). What's more, in Gareth Bale, Real Madrid boast the league's most prolific headed goalscorer.
Seven of the Welshman's 14 goals so far this term have been scored with his head. Bale's closest pursuer in theses rankings is teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo, who has shown his aerial prowess on five occasions, the latest of which came last time out against RC Celta. Another Real Madrid player who is a threat in the air is Pepe. The Portuguese defender was also amongst the goals against Celta with a thumping header. Completing the list of Real Madrid players to have found the target with their head is Karim Benzema, who has three such goals to his name.
Sitting just one goal behind Real Madrid in these standings are 15-goal Athletic Club. Striker Aritz Aduriz is the Basque outfit's undisputed king of the headed goal. The Spanish forward, who is in the form of his life right now, has 17 goals so far this campaign, five of which have been headers.
In the Liga Adelante, it's CD Leganes who top the headed goals standings on nine. However, Cordoba CF's Florin Andone is the division's most dangerous player from aerial balls with four goals, closely followed by Leganes's Borja Lazaro on three.
