Takefusa Kubo has been named the LALIGA EA SPORTS Player of the Month for September, an award handed out by LALIGA in partnership with EA. The Japanese forward was instrumental in the Basque club’s haul of 12 points from a total of 15 available, with four direct goal involvements and producing a host of quality pieces of play.
Kubo started the month on a high, netting a brace against Granada CF in Real Sociedad’s first victory of the season. His second stopover in September was at the Santiago Bernabeu where, despite not scoring, he put on a brilliant display capped by the pass leading to Ander Barrenetxea’s goal. On the following matchday, he was in the thick of it once again, finding the back of the net in the home win over Getafe. Finally, after being rested for the mid-week outing to Valencia, he signed off on a superb month by shining in the Basque Derby, where he celebrated making it 2-0 in front of the home fans.
The four wins allowed Real Sociedad to get back into the swing of things again after a faltering start comprising three draws on the spin, and the team from San Sebastian now sit fifth in the table.
Kubo claims his first ever LALIGA EA SPORTS Player of the Month trophy. The Japanese international was a cut above the rest of this month’s candidates: Robert Lewandowski, Jude Bellingham, Iñaki Williams and Savinho.
