Sunday's Liga Adelante matchday 37 action got underway with the clash between RCD Mallorca and Real Betis, Pepe Mel’s side claiming all three points with a 1-2 win thanks to goals from Rubén Castro and Jorge Molina. Xisco Jiménez replied for the hosts.

The two teams came out in search of goals right from the off. Mallorca were the first to try their luck on 6 minutes, while shortly afterwards Betis did likewise through Jorge Molina. After 16 minutes, the visitors made it 0-1 courtesy of Rubén Castro after a move that saw him combine with Francisco Molinero, the Canary Islander beating two defenders and sending an angled effort in at the far post. Castro was also involved in Betis' second, providing the cross with which Molina extended los verdiblancos’ lead on 33'. However, Mallorca refused to throw in the towel and managed to cut the deficit when Xisco took advantage of an error from Jordi Figueras.

In the second half, chances were slower in coming and it was Betis who got themselves into the more threatening positions in and around their opponents' box. Home keeper Jesús Cabrero prevented a third from an outfit who had several opportunities to increase their advantage. For Mallorca, Asensio hit the crossbar with his side's clearest chance on 77'. Los bermellones pressed for an equaliser in the final stages, but got no reward as the guests came away with victory. The win sees Betis, who move to 75 points and are four ahead of second-placed Girona FC, take another step towards promotion. It's a very different situation for Mallorca, who for the moment lie in sixteenth on 42 points, six clear of relegation.
