Spanish athletes Gonzalez, Kuhn and Badosa to be sponsored by LaLiga

LaLiga have signed a sponsorship agreement with the taekwondo athlete Joel Gonzalez, and the tennis players Nicola Kuhn and Paula Badosa. In line with their globalization strategy and their plans to expand to support the development of sports outside of football, LaLiga have agreed to sponsor these three up and coming athletes.

The presentation of the agreement took place on Monday morning in the presence of Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, Miguel Cardenal, president of the Spanish Sports Council (CSD), and the three athletes who will carry the image of Spanish football, and sport in general, around the world.

At the event, Tebas said the agreement was "very important for LaLiga." He added: "We are very proud that you can be a part of our projects. You're going to succeed in the world of sport and that's going to help us to make this league the best in the world. We will work together with the athletes and the federations to help us to promote our brand internationally." 

Cardenal said: "In specific sports, young people need help at the outset. They have to have the means to continue their education and they have the excitement of playing with Spain. This generous contribution of LaLiga helps them to carry out their dream. This union will be the seed of many evenings of success for Spanish sport." 

Finally, the three athletes spoke to express their gratitude. "We are pleased that the older brother of sport, football, is moving closer to other sports and giving us this opportunity," said Joel Gonzalez.

Paula Badosa highlighted what this agreement meant to her and announced her decision to play for Spain: "I am thrilled to be part of this project and have decided to represent this country, in part thanks to LaLiga."

Nicola Kuhn added: "It will help my development and my career and it was something that I really wanted. Finally, my dream has come true."
