Now that the fixture list has been revealed, it is time to take note of the most important dates of the campaign, so that you don't miss a kick of the action. When is the first Clasico? On which matchdays will Real Betis face Sevilla FC? What about the Galician derby? Grab a pen and start counting down to the big kick-off.
The first match at the Wanda Metropolitano
Atletico's inaugural game at their new home will be against Malaga CF on Matchday 4 of LaLiga Santander on 17 September, after the first international break of the season. Due to ongoing works on the club's new ground, Los Rojiblancos have to play their first two matches on the road, with the reverse fixtures at home in the second half of the campaign.
Catalan derby falls early on
Matchdays 3 and 22 will see FC Barcelona meet RCD Espanyol in an emotion-filled derby between two wonderful and historic LaLiga Santander clubs. The key dates for Barça and Espanyol fans are 10 September and 4 February.
Barcelona v Atletico – an unmissable clash
We won't have to wait long to soak up one of the division's showpiece fixtures, with Ernesto Valverde taking his charges to the capital on Matchday 8 to face Diego Simeone's side on 15 October, while the reverse game is scheduled for 4 March on Matchday 27.

A title-decidingClasico?
All eyes will be fixed on El Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona, which will take place on Matchdays 17 and 36, with the former just before the Christmas period, and the latter a potential title decider in May. They will certainly be two key games that fans all over the globe will be sure to tune in for and that will once again bring the football world to a standstill.
Derby days on Matchdays 17 and 36
As well as #ElClasico, two special derbies will be contested in December and May, with RC Deportivo meeting RC Celta in O Noso Derbi (Our Derby in Galician) and Valencia CF taking on regional rivals Villarreal CF all on the same weekend.
Madrid mania on Matchdays 12 and 31
The first clash of the campaign between Atletico and Real Madrid will be over the weekend of 19 November on Matchday 12 at the Wanda Metropolitano. The reverse fixture will fall in April in what could be a season-defining contest.
A belated Basque derby
We will have to wait until Matchday 16 on 17 December for the first meeting between Athletic Club and Real Sociedad, with the second game scheduled for Matchday 35.
Seville set to be spruced up for a late derby
We have no choice but to wait until 2018 for Sevilla and Betis to do battle. The Andalusian capital will play host to the colourful derby on 7 January on Matchday 18 and on the penultimate weekend of the season on 13 May.
A thrilling final day
The curtain will come down on the campaign in style, with exciting final-day clashes such as Barcelona v La Real at the Camp Nou, Athletic v Espanyol at San Mames, Valencia v Deportivo at Mestalla and Villarreal v Real Madrid at the Estadio de la Ceramica.
