Sergio Busquets renews with Barcelona

Sergio Busquets and FC Barcelona came to an agreement about the midfielder’s contract extension on Thursday morning. The Catalan player will remain with the azulgrana until June 2019 with the option of extending that to an extra season. This new contract will be signed on Friday morning, 27 February.

Busquets made his competitive first team debut for Barcelona on 13 September 2008 under the stewardship of Josep Guardiola in a match against R. Racing C. in the Camp Nou that finished 1-1.

The Barcelona midfielder has racked up over 200 Liga BBVA games with the azulgrana and has notched up six goals. He has made 23 appearances this season, starting all but one of those matches. He has also scored once this campaign.
