10 LaLiga fans left San Sebastian with stars in their eyes after an unforgettable football weekend courtesy of the LaLiga Santander Experience which culminated in a six-goal thriller between Real Sociedad and FC Barcelona.
The five competition winners and five journalists from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Turkey and Belarus kicked off the weekend with a guided visit of Real Sociedad’s impressive Anoeta stadium – taking in the presidential box, the dressing rooms and media zones along the way – before taking a walking tour of San Sebastian and a gastronomic visit to several of the city’s iconic ‘pintxo’ bars.
The true highlight of the weekend came on Sunday, however, with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and league leaders FC Barcelona in town to face Real Sociedad in a fixture that always provides excitement and drama in equal measure. Once again it didn’t disappoint. The group had the opportunity to watch their favourite stars arrive at the ground up close and lapped up the pre-game atmosphere pitchside – a privilege usually reserved only for players! – before heading up to a box to watch what turned out to be a thrilling encounter.
The group then headed down to the mixed zone after the game to hear the thoughts of La Real captain Xabi Prieto and Jordi Alba and even had the chance to pose Barça coach Ernesto Valverde a question in his post-match press conference.
So thank you, San Sebastian, for an extraordinary weekend as the participants head home with some truly unforgettable memories of the passion and excitement that LaLiga throws up on a weekly basis.
