The second LFP World Challenge tour continues in splendour. After Deportivo’s first game in Bogotá, Cali is the next city that hosts the Galician outfit on a matchday full of emotions.
One of the newest signings at Depor, defender Roberto Canella, spoke exclusively to La Liga TV to talk about how this first experience with the LFP World Challenge had been. "Very nice, it’s a nice experience. At the start the jetlag made it difficult, the climate change and the time change, but when you’re used to it, it’s fine".
These kind of matches also allow footballers to compare styles and have a sporting exchange between the countries. After playing their first game of the tour, Canella was not shy of praising their opponents: "The match the other day against Independiente Santa Fe was of a very high standard. They are very competitive players, who give their all of the shirt they wear. I think the culture is different to Europe, you can see it with the intensity that the players of South America have".
Víctor Fernández’s new signing was also proud because "to represent Deportivo in Colombia is nice. We’d like Colombia to discover Deportivo, Spanish culture, how teams play in Spain. I’m sure a lot of sides didn’t know us before, but now they have a little bit of Deportivo".
About the side’s return to Liga BBVA, Canella highlighted that Deportivo have to be "humble" and know that their first objective is to "secure safety as soon as possible". Deportivo will play their final game of the LFP World Challenge tour on Thursday 24 July against Asociación Deportivo Cali before returning to Spain. Follow all the developments with La Liga TV.
