Real Sociedad saw off Levante UD 3-0 on matchday 35 of the Liga BBVA in a game that was decided by the home side's clinical finishing up front. Alfreð Finnbogason, Markel Bergara and Carlos Vela were the goalscorers.
The Basques got off to a flying start, controlling possession and going in front during the early stages of the encounter. Finnbogason made it 1-0 following a great bit of play from Xabi Prieto and Carlos Vela on the left wing. Despite going behind, Levante kept their composure and began to get a foothold in the game and threatened to breech Gerónimo Rulli’s goal on occasion, although without any success. The first half ended with the San Sebastian outfit ahead on the scoreboard but with the visitors looking dangerous.
Things continued in a similar vein after the break, with Levante looking for an equaliser. Despite their best efforts, it was Real Sociedad who scored next, doubling their lead through a Markel Bergara header from a corner. The away team kept looking for a way back into the match and came close to narrowing the deficit with a Toño strike, but Carlos Vela soon killed things off by beating Diego Mariño with a direct free kick to make it 3-0.
