Real Madrid return to winning ways

Real Madrid won 2-0 against Levante UD in the last Sunday game of matchday 27 of the Liga BBVA. After a draw against Villarreal CF and a defeat against Athletic Club, the Whites got back to winning ways courtesy of two goals from Gareth Bale.

Real Madrid began the game looking comfortable, and quickly caused their opponents problems. Cristiano Ronaldo hit the post in the fourth minute, before an attempt with an acrobatic shot that Iván Ramis cleared off the line. Following that move however, Bale was attentive enough to gather the ball and Diego Mariño with a right-footed shot. It was the Welsh footballer who was again centre stage with another goal before the break after a powerful shot from Ronaldo went wide.

Levante tried to trouble Madrid after half-time, but Carlo Ancelotti’s men did not lower the intensity at all. Karim Benzema came close to a third with a spectacular volley with his heel, but the French player’s genius was stopped by the post. The visitors had various chances to shorten the deficit, such as a great left-footed shot from Víctor Camarasa or a header that went wide from Víctor Casadesús, but the Whites defended their lead without any problems.

After this win, Madrid stay in second with one point less than FC Barcelona, their next opponents. The side from Valencia however falls to 18th place in the league.
