Real Madrid face tricky test from Valencia CF as they look to keep pace with FC Barcelona on Matchday 29.

FC Barcelona vs CD Leganes

FC Barcelona couldn’t have been happier with their first game since LaLiga Santander’s resumption, registering a resounding 4-0 win away to RCD Mallorca that saw Lionel Messi record a goal and two assists, new signing Martin Braithwaite get on the scoresheet and Arturo Vidal return to the form that saw him an integral part of previous success. It was an ominous statement of intent to the league from the reigning champions who will look to further consolidate top spot against 19th CD Leganes, who were significantly less impressive in their return match than FC Barcelona, losing 2-1 to R. Valladolid. CD Leganes did however put a scare through their opponents in their earlier meeting this season, leading 1-0 at half-time before eventually losing 2-1 in an enthralling encounter.

C.A. Osasuna vs Atlético de Madrid

Atletico de Madrid’s underwhelming season continued through the pandemic postponement and into their opener, with Diego Costa providing the lone spark in a draw against Athletic Club. Despite a mammoth 13 draws from their 28 games this season, and inability to convert games from winning positions, Atletico de Madrid sit just one point outside of the crucial top four places and that will be the bare minimum expected at the Wanda Metropolitano. They travel to play C.A. Osasuna who have had differing periods of success but who are all but certainly locked in for another season of LaLiga after a promising return to Spain’s top flight. They’ll be looking to avoid a repeat of their previous match where Atletico de Madrid won 2-0.

Real Madrid vs Valencia CF

Real Madrid, much like their title rivals FC Barcelona, re-started the season in typical fashion with a dominant 3-1 win over Eibar SD thanks to goals from a trio of veteran stars. A poor run of form leading into the enforced pandemic break saw them fall slightly behind FC Barcelona so they will now be forced to play catch up and hope for a slip up, with both Clasicos already completed. They continue their chase on matchday 29 against Valencia CF who soundly beat FC Barcelona 2-0 not long before the season’s pause. Valencia CF sit four points outside the top four and they will be determined to earn European football for next season with a talented roster of established and developing stars. This should prove an exciting attacking spectacle. Real Madrid took a point from their earlier meeting this season 1-1 at the Mestalla.
