Changes in the lineup
Berizzo made several substitutions in the starting lineup against Rayo. Eight players were switched from the last Cup match against Atlético Madrid and only Sergi Gómez, Planas and Radoja were left in the starting team. Beauvue, on the other hand, enjoyed his La Liga debut. Over the course of the match, the mastermind switched Jonny for Planas, Pape Cheikh for Drazix by and Hernandez for Radoja.
Rayo dominates
The Rayo team ran out onto the field with a clear mission. In the first five minutes, the hosts had already claimed the ball, dominating play for the whole 90 minutes, from start to finish. Vallecas fans enjoyed a great performance from their team, which put three goals away.
Three goals in 15 minutes
The first goal came at the 21st minute from the boots of Miku, lighting up the Vallecas scoreboard, while the second goal of the night came just five minutes later, when Tito finished off a free kick by Trashorras. The third, at the 36th minute, was the work of Jozabed.
Planned to perfection
Two of the goals came from set pieces, something quite usual in Paco Jemez's team. The 2-0 result came after a free kick taken by Trashorras to the far post, which Tito made sure to finish off and ten minutes later, the captain again threaded the ball in from the left wing. Rayo is the team with the highest percentage of goals from set pieces and, against Celta, it managed to add two more.
Rayo wins again
With its 3-0 win against RC Celta, the Madrid team had put an end to its streak of nine consecutive games without a win. After adding up three draws and six defeats, Jemez's boys added another three points and it can finally be said that joy has returned to Vallecas after nine gruelling days.
