Rayo Vallecano claimed their second win on the trot in the Liga BBVA after defeating Levante UD 0-2 at the Ciutat de València Stadium, a ground where they remain unbeaten in their last four visits in the top flight of Spanish football. Léo Baptistão, the scorer of both goals, was once again the hero of the Madrid side.
It was a sublime first half for Rayo Vallecano in which Léo Baptistão shone. The Brazilian striker, on loan from Club Atlético de Madrid, scored two beautiful goals to confirm his team’s superiority at the Ciutat de València. The first goal came in the 12th minute after a run down the right side by the Brazilian, who beat Jesús Fernández with an angled shot. Twenty minutes later, the same player doubled his team’s lead with an accurate header from a good Emiliano Insua cross.
In the second half the pace of the game was maintained and there were chances for both teams to score. Levante searched without success for the Madrid side’s net, while Rayo Vallecano looked to make use of their speed in attack. Alberto Bueno could have put the game to bed, but his shot hit the woodwork from the penalty spot. With this result, Paco Jémez’s team climb the table, while the Granotas remain in the danger zone.
