Rayo Vallecano beat Celta Vigo 2-0 on matchday 13 of the Liga BBVA campaign. The Galician side has yet to get a win in the Estadio de Balaídos this season, while the Madrid outfit climbs out of the drop zone with this victory.
Paco Jémez’s men knew that they had a great opportunity to get out of the drop zone in the Estadio de Balaídos, and took full advantage of it. True to their footballing philosophy, the visitors took charge of the match from the first minute.
Positioned well around the pitch and causing the Galicians all kinds of problems with their pace, Rayo opened up the scoring in the 24 minute. A great Tito pass found Jonathan Viera who coolly beat Yoel Rodríguez in the one-to-one situation.
Celta didn’t come to life until the second half, when all of a sudden they began to cause Rubén Martínez to sweat in the Rayo goal. However, the away side worked hard in defence while continuing to attack and managed to double its lead when Joaquín Larrivey headed home an Adrián Embarba cross. A hugely valuable win for Rayo Vallecano, who now climb out of the relegation zone.
