Raul Gonzalez: "LaLiga Santander is the best in the world"

It’s nine months since Raul Gonzalez started working as LaLiga’s Country Manager in the United States, a task he undertakes "with great enthusiasm, because it is an honour to represent LaLiga in America".

Heading up the office in New York, he is helping the LaLiga brand grow across the globe, and he assures that "international fans are enjoying our competition more and more because LaLiga has the best players, the highest skill level and is the best in the world".

As a former Real Madrid player, a club he represented for 16 seasons, Raul is particularly well placed to understand how important it is for the club and their fans to win LaLiga. "Real Madrid have set their sights on winning LaLiga Santander this season," he says. "It is a competition that’s all about consistency and there is a special feeling about lifting this title."

In this interview, Raul also analyses Marco Asensio, one of Madrid’s surprise top performers over the opening few games. "He’s doing well and he has a great future," Raul says. "I am convinced that he will bring much to Real Madrid because he is a player who can make a difference in games."
