RCD Espanyol have confirmed the appointment of Quique Sanchez Flores as their new first-team coach. The Madrid-born manager will take the reins at the Catalan club next Monday, when he will be unveiled at the RCDE Stadium at midday (CET).
Sanchez Flores has agreed a three-year contract and his arrival signals the "start of a new and exciting period for all the fans," the club announced in a statement. The Spaniard's backroom staff will be revealed next week.
The Madrilenian had a long and distinguished playing career prior to turning his hand to coaching and boasts extensive experience in the dugout. He cut his managerial teeth in the Real Madrid youth ranks, before getting his Liga BBVA break in charge of Getafe CF. He subsequently had spells at the helm of Valencia CF, Benfica, Atletico Madrid and Dubai outfit Al-Ahli, while last season he got his first taste of the Premier League, managing Watford.
