SD Ponferradina look unbeatable in El Toralín, where they are still yet to taste defeat in the Liga Adelante. The side from El Bierzo beat CD Mirandés 1-0 on matchday eight of the championship thanks to a goal from Jesús Berrocal towards the end of the match.
All eyes were on home player Pablo Infante, who was facing his old side for the first time, and he created the first chance of the match. The player from Burgos came very close to opening the scoring with a direct free-kick that was just inches over the bar. Although Mirandés managed to create significant danger for their opponents, Ponferradina recovered control of the game in the dying minutes of the first half and were close to scoring again with a Lucas Domínguez header.
After the break, the home team came out with the same intensity and peppered the opposition’s area once again. Pablo Infante produced a brilliant through ball for Yuri de Souza, who collected the ball in his stride and was just wide of the far post with a powerful strike. Mirandés were solid but Aitor Fernández’s red card was a huge setback for Carlos Terrazas’ men. Ponferradina made the most of their extra player to seal all three points with a goal from Berrocal in the 80th minute.
