CA Osasuna released a statement on Thursday detailing that Joaquin Caparros has been relieved of his first-team duties and has been replaced by current sporting director Petar Vasiljevic with immediate effect.
Caparros took over from the sacked Enrique Martin at Osasuna in early November, but a record of seven losses in eight games culminating in the 3-0 home defeat by SD Eibar in the first leg of the Copa del Rey last-16 tie led to his dismissal.
Vasiljevic featured for Osasuna in two different spells as a player, firstly in the 1994/95 season and later in 1999/2000. Many years after hanging up his boots, the Serb returned to the club where he ended up taking on a series of different roles, the most recent of which was as sporting director.
The 46-year-old will be in charge of the first team until the end of the current campaign, with his first test coming up on Monday when Valencia CF visit El Sadar.
