With the approval of the ROYAL DECREE CONCERNING THE SALE OF TELEVISION RIGHTS IN SPANISH FOOTBALL and before its publication in the BOE (Official State Gazette), La Liga wishes to express that the decision taken by the Spanish Government is a historic step for Spanish football, one which will allow it to become more competitive on a national and international stage and, above all, will prove lucrative for clubs, fans, spectators and television spectators. The step taken by the Spanish Government was urgent and necessary.

La Liga would like to thank the Spanish Government for showing regard for football fans, and with other sports and other athletes. This measure reflects the shared feeling of social corporate responsibility in Spanish football, something the league has always identified with.

If in the next few years the share of television rights grows as expected, Spanish football fans, its clubs and federations will earn more than 150million euros, rising to 400million euros in the next 10 years. These earnings will be divided correctly and will benefit Spanish football fans.

Finally, in light of the difficult challenges he had to overcome, the Liga de Fútbol Profesional would like to show its gratitude to the Secretary of State for Sport and everyone else who works in this institution for their good work and sensitivity in dealing with this matter.
