They stood out in the 2013-14 Liga BBVA season thanks to the football and rhythm that pulse through their veins. Carlos Bacca, Sevilla FC's striker, Ángel di María, the ex-Real Madrid CF player, and Neymar Jr, who joined FC Barcelona last season are in the battle for the 'Best American Player in the 2013-14 Liga BBVA' on 27 October at the 2014 LFP Awards Ceremony, which will be broadcast on La Sexta (22:30).
The first of the trio, the Colombian Carlos Bacca, arrived at Sevilla as a hero after the best season of his life at FC Brujas KV and he had a dream start in the Andalusian city, finding the net 14 times in the Spanish championship and adding seven more in the UEFA Europa League, where Unai Emery's men lifted the trophy. His right foot and imagination in front of goal make him one of the most complete strikers in the Liga BBVA.
His stats over four seasons with Real Madrid were so spectacular that the Premier League came knocking. Di María left 36 goals in his wake with the Whites and, even more impressively, 87 assists in the four years he spent at the Santiago Bernabéu. Electricity, power, movement and pace are the Argentinian's trump cards.
Neymar is synonymous with samba, colour, fun and jogo bonito, making him one of the greatest proponents of what South American football means to the world. The Brazilian landed in Barcelona at a time of transition and, together with Lionel Messi, he became one of the team's star strikers. While he scored nine goals in the last Liga BBVA season, so far this campaign he has already found the net eight times in the first eight matches.
