They were three big figures in their respective teams last season, and now they are looking to become a star of their continent. Jean Marie Dongou (FC Barcelona B), Ibrahim Sissoko (RC Deportivo) and Ritchie Kitoko (Real Jaén) are the three nominees chosen by users of LFP.es, following a vote, for the prize of 'Best African Player in the 2013-14 Liga Adelante' Award to be named at the '2014 LFP Awards Gala' on 27 October.
Jean Marie Dongou stood out for FC Barcelona B as they finished the season in third place. The forward from Cameroon was born in 1995, and he scored eight goals for Barça’s second side in 30 games. Speed, power and an eye for goal are his standout features and he will one day hope to don the colours of the first team in Catalonia.
Ibrahim Sissoko from the Ivory Coast signed for Depor in the winter market and he made a huge impression at the Riazor, helping them earn promotion to Liga BBVA. The 22-year-old winger, who is currently playing for Eskişehirspor in Turkey, played 16 times in Liga Adelante, leaving few viewers in doubt of his quality and ability.
Real Jaén's Congolese Ritchie Kitoko completes the list. Although he was unable to help the Andalusian side stay up, he certainly stood out, playing 34 times both as a central midfielder and a wide man.
