This Wednesday was sealed in Madrid the sponsorship agreement signed last August with Mazda, for which the automotive company joins the ranks of official sponsors of LaLiga at the national level, also becoming the official car brand of the 2015/16 season. In the event were presents Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, José María Terol, president and CEO of Mazda Motor Spain, Benno Gaessler, commercial director of Mazda Motor Spain and Adolfo Bara, director of marketing and sales of LaLiga.
With this agreement, LaLiga is associated with a brand that shares values with sport as the best performance, determination to improve and passion. Thanks to this union, the Japanese company will be present in all media from Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante, as well as in stadiums, online platforms and social networks.
During the event, Javier Tebas stressed the centenary character of Mazda and assessed the contribution of this alliance to the global strategy of LaLiga. "Mazda is present worldwide, just as LaLiga. We're the best league in the world, we have the best clubs in the world and we go hand in hand with the best sponsors in the world", he said and noted that "we hope that this union help us to be the global league we want to be”.
José María Terol established some parallels between brand and football. "Like LaLiga, which is one of the most renowned in the world and every season has the best. One of the unfinished business of Mazda in Spain is to be a known brand, we have a very large growth potential and LaLiga is a very important partner to achieve it"
LaLiga's president explained during the subsequent press conference that Mazda will be an official sponsor and clarified that "what has happened is that, when BBVA announced his departure from LaLiga, Mazda entered, but not as title sponsor. Hopefully we can stay together more than one season, but at the moment is not the case". About finding a sponsor, Javier Tebas noted that "LaLiga's wish is to have a global sponsor".
In addition, the president of LaLiga commented about several issues. Javier Tebas was asked about how the 'FIFA Virus' can affect clubs, and he called it an "eternal problem". “Hopefully, this beginning of a revolution in the international institutions can bring a solution to this problem that harms clubs and championships".
Asked for the latest of FIFA Executive Committee and the relationship with Angel Maria Villar, president of the RFEF, Javier Tebas said that "most are in jail or suspended, and Villar or was very smart or very stupid that he did not know anything. It worries me that the president of the RFEF wouldn't know anything about what was happening".
Finally, Javier Tebas clarified his remarks during the Leaders' Summit in London about the possibility of playing games from LaLiga outside Spain. "It's very difficult because we have to obtain the approval of FIFA, UEFA and the RFEF, therefore it is not in the strategy of LaLiga in a short term. But there are other leagues that do, and it could be pose in medium to long term. "
