Mauricio Pellegrino named as new Alaves boss

D. Alaves have officially announced the signing of Mauricio Pellegrino as the club's new head coach for the 2016/17 season.

The Argentine manager, who takes over from Jose Bordalas in the dugout, will take charge of the Basque side as they return to Spain's top flight. In doing so, Pellegrino returns to the club where he played during the 2005/06 campaign. It is the Argentine's second LaLiga coaching job, having managed Valencia CF in 2012.

During his playing days, Pellegrino also had stints at FC Barcelona and Valencia, where he made over 200 appearances from 1999 to 2004 and lifted two league titles and a Spanish Super Cup.
