D. Alaves attacking midfielder Manu Garcia (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 1986) has been named the BBVA Liga Adelante Player of the Month for May in recognition of his influential role in what was a magnificent month for the Basque outfit, which culminated with Jose Bordalas's team clinching promotion to the Liga BBVA.
Garcia produced a series of instrumental displays during his side's successful push for promotion, during which they racked up five wins in as many matches in May. Indeed, the 30-year-old was on the scoresheet in the three most recent of these victories, against SD Ponferradina, Athletic Club B and CD Numancia. The most special of his goals was undoubtedly the opener against Numancia last time out, in a game in which Alaves ultimately sealed their spot in the top flight for next term.
This accolade, which is awarded by BBVA, the competition's main sponsor, and voted for by the LaLiga.es writers, recognises Garcia's key contribution in May, in which he scored three times and kept up his run of having played every single minute of Alaves's league campaign ahead of the final round of fixtures.
