On Saturday at 18:15 CD Lugo’s surprising journey so far this season is to encounter a new challenge. Quique Setién’s side visit the ever-tricky RCD Mallorca, who will be looking for a win in order to take its final step up to the top end of the table.
The Galician team has been a revelation in the Liga Adelante and is currently enjoying one of the automatic promotion spots for the first time in its history. Mallorca is eleventh in the table, but only four points back, so a home victory would leave the two teams practically side by side in the league standings.
Mallorca hope to forget their defeat to Recreativo de Huelva last weekend and are slowly rediscovering their touch after an early season plagued by injuries. Lugo, on the other hand, has collected seven of the last nine points on offer and will be without the injured Pablo Álvarez, Ernesto and Víctor Marco. Iván Pérez, however, returns to the fold.
