RCD Mallorca won their fourth game in a row (2-1) against CD Lugo, who battled, and despite pulling one back at 2-0 down, could not find a leveller. Serbian forward Marko Šćepović was man of the match, scoring both of his side’s goals to take them to 14 points in Liga Adelante.
Both sides started well, looking for the three points. Although both sides had their chances, it was Marco Asensio who led an attack for Valeri Karpin’s men that deserved a goal. The academy graduate ran 40 metres with the ball, beating men but his shot flew over.
Just after the restart, Šćepović scored his first goal of the afternoon. Eight minutes later he made it 2-0 to help clam any home nerves. The Galician outfit then improved, and Luis Fernández halved the deficit, but the visitors were unable to find an equaliser, and the game finished as it was, 2-1.
