FC Barcelona won the Liga BBVA title on Saturday thanks to their 3-0 win over Granada CF on the final matchday, and the great architect of the Catalan club's 24th league title scored a hat-trick in the match.

The Granada game was a clear example of just how important Luis Suarez is to Luis Enrique's side. The Uruguayan striker's goals have acted as the building blocks for a large number of the team's triumphs during a gruelling and fiercely contested campaign. Suarez finishes the Liga BBVA season as the both top scorer and top provider in the division, sharing the latter title with his teammate Lionel Messi.

The former Liverpool FC player has scored 40 goals in the Liga BBVA 2015/16 – the fifth largest haul in the history of the competition. His average of over a goal a game is the best of his career and propelled Barcelona towards the title. However, Suarez is not just a finisher. He has also been setting up his teammates. He and Messi are the players who provided the most assists in the Liga BBVA this season, with a total of 16 apiece.

What is more, many of his goals could not have come at a better time for his team. After only netting once in the opening five games, Suarez scored 15 goals in the following 12 encounters, helping Barcelona pile on the points and assume the Liga BBVA top spot. Suarez finding the back of the net was a common sight throughout the season, but his goal drought between Matchdays 29 and 33 coincided with Barcelona's poorest run of the season.

From that point onwards, Suarez rediscovered his scintillating form with 14 goals in the last five matches, including four against RC Deportivo and another four against R. Sporting. Not only did they catalyse Barcelona's reaction after their chasers had closed the gap, they also catapulted the Catalan outfit to title glory.

The attacking trio composed of Suarez, Messi and Neymar netted 90 of the team's 112 goals in the Liga BBVA this season, but the Uruguayan played a particularly special role. This has undoubtedly been Suarez's season and Barcelona have benefitted from their star finding his finest form.
