An in-need, but improved Málaga CF opens matchday 30 of the Liga BBVA with a clash against RCD Espanyol, who lie at the opposite end of the table.
Bernd Schuster's understudies come into the game brimming with confidence after their win last weekend in the Balaídos (0-2). The next step is to find three more points at home against the Catalonian outfit to guarantee salvation. "There is a good atmosphere in the dressing room. We’ve played well in recent games and we want to keep it that way", commented midfielder Samuel. The team will have to make do without the suspended Ignacio Camacho, Sergio Sánchez, Jesús Gámez and Duda.
They will be faced with an Espanyol who occupy a much more comfortable spot in the table and will be bidding for three points that would take them towards the European spots, where they were a few weeks back. Their manager Javier Aguirre’s main concern is the Andalusian side's added motivation: "Málaga has improved. They have come back with a solid team, so I’m expecting an intense game", he declared.
