Lionel Messi named LaLiga Santander Player of the Month for April

FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi has been named the LaLiga Santander Player of the Month for April. The award comes as a result of a month of outstanding performances from the Argentine forward, in which he played a key role in his side winning LaLiga Santander and found the net six times.

The FC Barcelona has been in a league of his own all season. The Argentinian continued to show off his best and helped guide the blaugranas to their 25th LaLiga Santander title. The month of April was extra special for Leo, scoring two hat-tricks. The first, against Leganes and then also against Depor.  Messi was decisive in the victory against Depor, which helped Barça clinch the LaLiga title. 

This season, LaLiga has added a new dimension to the awarding of the Player of the Month accolade, bringing fans closer to the action of the best league in the world. This will see Lionel Messi collect the award in front of the Camp Nou faithful this Sunday, 20 May, before Barcelona take on Real Sociedad.
