Liga BBVA, protagonist at the Ballon d’Or

The 13th of January 2014 is the date that the FIFA Ballon d’Or will be awarded to one of three finalists in Zurich, Switzerland. Of the three, two are Liga BBVA players: Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The shortlist for the world’s best player is completed by Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery.

These two forwards, who have both had a fantastic year, were not the only ones from Spanish football up for the prize, with four other Liga BBVA players making the initial shortlist. Real Madrid CF’s Gareth Bale, in addition to Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta and Neymar of FC Barcelona were acknowledged by FIFA and France Football in the quest to lift the Ballon d’Or, one of world football’s most prestigious prizes.
