Two great former players on the bench
The intensity and the game that was seen on the pitch was just a pure reflection of what was on the benches: two coaches with a clear approach and a concrete idea on how to face football. So both teams proposed a style, created danger and they tried to keep the possession of the ball.
Superiority of Las Palmas
Although parity reigned in the clash between the two teams, the Canary side was superior from the early stages of the first half. They marked out the path and forced the Andalusian to stand in their own field and create less danger, although in the second half Betis tried to attack mainly on the wings with crosses into Javi Varas box.

Defense solidity
The fixed idea of keeping the lines together and the constant pressing reduced the chances in the second half. The attack became something secondary and only through counterattacks seemed possible to score and break the 0-0.
Vadillo's lever
Betis young footballer entered the field in the final stretch to turn the clash around. And although he failed to score, he created the most dangerous chance of the Betis. Alvaro Vadillo replaced Joaquin and later Rafael van der Vaart got in for Jorge Molina. Pepe Mel wanted goals, but ended up watching the rival´s target, which came in added time.
Willian José decisive
After 90 minutes without celebrations, Willian José found the road to victory after a play that he finished himself within the box. Gran Canaria Stadium was overjoyed with a goal that meant three valuable points to take another step towards the stay in the top flight.
