Javier Tebas, chairman of the Liga de Fútbol Profesional, took part this Monday in the Securing Sport London 2014 International Conference, organised by the ICSS (the International Centre for Sport Security). 'All about the money. Financial Integrity and Transparency in Sport' was the topic of a meeting in which the chairman of the Liga de Fútbol Profesional shared a discussion table with Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, Chief Executive of ICSS in Europe and Latin America; Umberto Gandini, Vice-Chairman of the ECA and Sporting Director of AC Milan; Bobby Barnes, Chairman of FIFPro Europe; and David Walsh, moderator and Head of Sport at the Sunday Times.
Javier Tebas explained the LFP's stance concerning financial operations with third parties. "We need to implement regulations, but not a ban". The Liga chairman added that "this form of financing enables football teams to promote talent and competitiveness". Tebas reaffirmed "the LFP's commitment to investment funds in a regulated manner".
The financial integrity and transparency of sport were the focal point for discussion at the conferences, in which speakers discussed topics such as financial fair play, the transferral of ownership of football clubs to unknown investors, the influence of financial operations with third parties overseas and tax evasion, among other subjects.
