LEGENDS, the world's largest football collection, opens its doors in Madrid

LEGENDS The Home of Football, presented by LaLiga will open its doors in Madrid on June 1. An opening that will position the Spanish capital as the epicentre of world football, with what is the largest collection of memorabilia in the history of the sport. A total of 600 pieces will be exhibited across 4,200 m2, where visitors will also be able to enjoy immersive and technological experiences that will take them through more than a century of history.

The 600 items that will be displayed in this collection have been used in matches by the players themselves and are certified by UEFA and FIFA. The pieces come from all kinds of international competitions such as the FIFA World Cup, European Championship, Copa America, UEFA Champions League, Copa Libertadores, Olympic Games, Intercontinental Cup, Club World Cup, UEFA Europa League, women's football and all the biggest Legends and National Leagues, such as LaLiga, among others.

Marcelo Ordás, president of LEGENDS, described the exhibition as follows: “It is a dream come true to bring the heritage of world football to Madrid together with the most important institutions. Legends is an unprecedented asset and there is no better place to have it than the football capital of the world”.

In addition, Óscar Mayo, LaLiga's Executive General Director, explains: “We at LaLiga are proud to be part of the LEGENDS project, which represents a before and after for the world of football. We have managed to safeguard its history and make it available to the public and we will continue to work along these lines so that more and more items can be displayed in this space”.

All of which will be on display from June 1^st in a seven-storey building located at Carrera de San Jerónimo, 2, in the heart of Madrid's Puerta del Sol. The 4,200 m2 will include a Metaverse Game Area, a football store, a 4D Cinema, robotic games with augmented reality and a room called Football Art, where visitors will be able to enjoy an immersive and moving experience thanks to digital technology and state-of-the-art projections. The building is crowned by a LaLiga TwentyNine's restaurant located on the rooftop, with a spectacular view of Puerta del Sol.

LEGENDS, The Home of Footbal presented by LaLiga is a project in which LEGENDS, LaLiga and UEFA are partners, with the institutional support of FIFA, the IOC and several legends of world football.  The collection includes more than 5,000 items, some of which will be on display in Madrid. Over the next few years, it is hoped that the remaining pieces will be exhibited in new spaces that will open in other cities across Europe and around the world.
