Bilbao Athletic 4-2 SD Ponferradina
Ager Aketxe restored Bilbao Athletic’s belief, who although they remain in the relegation zone retain hopes they can stay up, after the midfielder scored a hat-trick. It was an especially strong performance which they put in at San Mames against Ponferradina. Gorka Santamaria also shone in the clash, sealing the win in the 54th minute. Acoran Barrera and Gonzalo Melero scored for the El Bierzo side, but they were unable to avoid defeat, dropping down to 16th place.
CD Numancia 1-1 AD Alcorcon
It was a draw under the falling snow at Los Pajaritos between Numancia and Alcorcon. Although Alex Alegria put the home side ahead 15 minutes into the match, an own goal by Alexander Callens meant the points were shared. With this result, both sides have now only managed four draws and one win in their last five games.
UE Llagostera 0-1 Girona FC
Girona came out on top in the Liga Adelante derby played at the Palamos Municipal Stadium. Alex Granell’s goal from the penalty spot two minutes from time decided an intense game which was evenly matched for the 90 minutes. The home side were punished by their lack of accuracy in front of goal. They desperately need a win in the coming weeks if they are to get off the bottom of the table.
SD Huesca - RCD Mallorca (Postponed)
Heavy rain and snow prevented the game being played at El Alcoraz. The new date for the game will be announced when it is decided.
Cordoba CF 0-1 CA Osasuna
Osasuna snatched the three points in the dying stages at the Nuevo Arcangel in a hotly contested match which would have ended goalless had it not been for Alejandro Berenguer’s strike in added time. The young striker finished off Nino’s assist with his right foot. In addition to giving them the victory, the Navarre side also move up to fourth.
CD Leganes 2-0 D. Alaves
The top of the table clash ended with a win for the Madrilenians, thanks to a strike by Ruben Peña and Borja Lazaro’s goal after coming on as a substitute, putting them top of the Liga Adelante. The dream continues for the compact and well equipped team, who managed to prove their quality against Jose Bordalas’s Alaves, also strong contenders for the Liga Adelante title.
Nastic 1-1 R. Valladolid CF
Nothing could separate two of the most ambitious teams of the campaign. Nastic took the lead thanks to a clearance which fell to Achille Emana, but Valladolid struck back immediately with Vincenzo Rennella levelling the scores on 25 minutes.
CD Mirandes 1-2 CD Tenerife
Nano opened the scoring for the islanders seven minutes after the kick-off, giving his side a lift and allowing them to go on and show their superiority in the first half. In the second, Carlos Terrazas shuffled his bench in search of the draw, but Nano pierced Raul’s net again. In the final moments, Iñigo Eguaras pegged one back for Mirandes, but they were ultimately unable to avoid defeat at Anduva.
UD Almeria 1-0 Albacete B.
Jose Angel Pozo gave Almeria a vital three points in added time. The young striker produced an ‘espaldinha’ before passing to himself with his head to beat a defender in the area and bring smiles back to the faces of the Juegos Mediterraneos crowd. Albacete ended up paying the price for spurning their chances.
R. Zaragoza 3-1 CD Lugo
This was an emotion-packed match in which both teams were looking for a win to get them closer to the play-offs. Jose Antonio Duran was unable to mark his debut on the Galician bench with a win and, although his side opened the scoring through Ferreiro, Angel and Manu Lanzarote staged a comeback in an incredible three minutes, before Jean Marie Dongou netted in injury time. Lugo ended the game with nine men after Seoane and Pau Cendros were sent off.
R. Oviedo 3-0 Elche CF
The game between R. Oviedo and Elche CF was so evenly contested that the deadlock was not broken until late on. Mamadou Kone was the man to give Oviedo the lead, getting on the end of a cross in from the right. Elche had a clear chance to draw level immediately afterwards, but Esteban Andres Suarez intercepted the ball in the nick of time. With the final whistle approaching, the Asturian outfit scored a second and then a third to make it 3-0.
