The club returned to Liga Adelante after a decade of absence and staged a commendable 2014/15 campaign. A season later, the CD Leganés are reaping the returns and can even breathe with more enthusiasm.
The Madrileños are in sixth place with 31 points. A figure that makes this Leganes the second best team ever in terms of points after the dispute of the first 20 matchdays of the championship, second only to the 1995/96 season (34 points).
The 'Pepinero' wall
One of the recipes in this success lies in the strong performance of the defense that fewest goals has conceded in Liga Adelante with just 16. The leader of the category, D. Alavés, have conceded one more. Martín Mantovani (1.710 minutes), Víctor Díaz (1.620), Pablo Insua (1.505) y Luis Ruiz (1.033) are the trustworthy men of Asier Garitano at the back.
But the merit is not just of the defenders, since goalkeeper Jon Ander Serantes is also one of the bulwarks of Leganes. The Basque goalie has started in all 20 games played, has left a clean sheet nine times and has made 38 saves.
