UE Llagostera was founded in the year 1947. Since then, and with the humility that characterises the club which represents a local population of only 8 200, the team has attempted to grow and evolve a little every year. So after achieving promotion to the Liga Adelante, the Catalans decided to release a new emblem for the 2014/15 season.
The current emblem is a stylisation of the traditional one, which showed a large sphere underneath the emblem of the town and surrounded by the name of the team (Unio Esportiva Llagostera). In the updated version, the Catalan club have significantly reduced the size of the ball, and completely removed the caption. What is more, across the top now reads Lacustaria. In this version a castle pictured above a lake also appears. According to some theories the word Lacustaria could come from the Latin word ‘lacu’, meaning lake. Another theory points to the time of the Iberians, when Lacustaria would have been Locustaria and meant 'flat hill'.
