The LaLiga sides are steadily blowing off the cobwebs and getting back into action. On Sunday it was the turn of UD Las Palmas, who faced off against a team comprising players from the south of Gran Canaria in a friendly in Tunte (San Bartolome de Tirajana), near the island's southern coast. Las Palmas old boy Juan Carlos Valeron lined up against his former club and sported the captain's armband for the hosts.

Quique Setien's team did not take long to break the deadlock. The match was just seven minutes old when Jose Artiles opened the scoring at the Estadio de Las Lagunas. By the half-hour mark it was 3-0, with Momo bagging a brace to ensure his side took a comfortable lead into the break.

Despite a raft of substitutions, the pattern of play did not change in the second half and Helder Lopes made it 4-0 just after the restart, scoring his first goal for his new club. Benito Ramirez got in on the act in the 55th minute, notching his side's fifth, before a strike apiece from Vicente Gomez, Sergio Araujo and Jonathan Viera added further gloss to the scoreline.

Setien's charges produced a highly impressive showing in their opening dress rehearsal and will now look to build on it as they bid to gear up for the 2016/17 season in the best possible fashion.
