Tuesday night was a special night as Lamine Yamal, FC Barcelona’s young sensation and a rising star of LALIGA EA SPORTS, stole the show in the European Championship semi-finals. At 16 years and 362 days of age, Lamine Yamal scored a sensational left-footed strike from outside the box in the 21st minute of Spain’s 2-1 victory over France. Not only was it a beautiful goal, but it makes him the youngest scorer in the history of the tournament, surpassing Switzerland’s Johan Vonlanthen, who netted on June 21st 2004 against France aged 18 years and 141 days. He also moves ahead of Wayne Rooney, who scored for England against Switzerland on June 17th 2004, aged 18 years and 237 days. Furthermore, Lamine Yamal has become the youngest player to even play in the semi-final of a European Championship or World Cup, surpassing the record set by Pelé in the 1958 World Cup. He is well and truly in elite company.

The semi-final against France was the perfect setting to demonstrate just why LALIGA EA SPORTS is known around the world as a breeding ground for the most promising football talents. The youngster from Esplugues de Llobregat drilled the ball into the French net to level the scores in the 21st minute of the match, scoring a goal that was an immediate masterpiece, a clear example of the technical quality and vision that is cultivated in youth academies across Spain. His impact on the match was such that he was named Player of the Match. Moreover, his goal was a personal milestone and a key moment for the Spanish national team, who now await their opponents for Sunday’s final. As Spain prepare for this European Championship final, all eyes will remain on Lamine Yamal. He turns 17 one day before the big game and is still so young, but has already demonstrated incredible maturity and professionalism. His meteoric rise is a clear sign that the future of Spanish football and LALIGA is in safe and talented hands.
