LaLiga supporters' clubs took centre stage at an event hosted at the Budapest branch of the Cervantes Institute last Thursday, 14 June. A crowd of more than 50 people was in attendance to hear about the initiative that LaLiga and fan group Aficiones Unidas have launched to bring Spanish football closer to fans around the world.
Real Madrid, Valencia CF, Atletico Madrid and FC Barcelona's Hungarian peñas presented their activities, shared their experiences and encouraged the attendees to go along to the get-togethers that the supporters' clubs arrange to watch LaLiga matches. Athletic Club's peña in the country, which is recognised by the club despite not having official status, was also present.
The event concluded with the customary group photo and a question-and-answer session that sparked an interesting discussion about the differences between the Hungarian and Spanish leagues.
