LaLiga, Spanish sport's lucky charm

It's July 2014 and UD Almeria were packing their bags for Bangkok, where they would team up with the Spanish badminton squad under the auspices of the LaLiga World project. Amongst the badminton stars on tour was none other than Carolina Marin, who back then was finalising her preparations in a bid to secure a medal at the 2014 World Championships. One month on from her LaLiga World experience, on 31 August, the Spaniard was crowned world champion. However, Marin's post-LaLiga World achievements don't stop there, indeed, two years later, Marin would go on to claim glory at the Rio 2016 Games after a stunning display from the 23-year-old saw her add an Olympic gold to an already impressive medal haul.

However Marin is far from being the only Spanish Olympian to have benefited from LaLiga's support. Taekwondo athlete Joel Gonzalez, who took bronze in the -68kg division, is one of a number of starlets to have reaped the rewards of a sponsorship agreement signed with LaLiga which aims to promote and support young talents.

Other athletes to have graced the Rio Games after having shared experiences with LaLiga teams as a part of the LaLiga World initiative include the Spanish women's water polo team, the table tennis squad, the men's rugby sevens side and the nation's leading taekwondo and karate stars.

In a show of the organisation's unwavering support for Spanish sport, LaLiga, in partnership with the High Council for Sport (CSD), launched LaLiga4Sports on 21 March, a project which uses digital media to promote the work of the country's sports federations. Here's to plenty more sporting success!
