Saturday was another day full of emotions and football at the 25th PAMESA LaLiga Promises National Tournament, with the round of 16 and quarter-finals keenly contested. There was disappointment for the eight sides who were knocked out, while the four teams who booked a berth in the semi-finals were left with smiles on their faces, although sportsmanship and fair play were once again the biggest winners on the day.

The last-16 ties were played in the morning and produced a quarter-final lineup of R. Sporting v RC Celta, Atletico Madrid v RCD Espanyol, Villarreal CF v Real Betis and Real Madrid v Malaga CF, with oodles of passion and enjoyment on show.

"LaLiga Promises is the best tournament in Spain and coming here is a reward for our hard work and efforts day in, day out," Malaga player Andres Carlos told LaLiga. Atletico Madrid's Ignacio echoed these thoughts, adding that, "It's a unique experience. We're having fun and have made a lot of friends."

Meanwhile, Sporting's Enol Prendes was keen to pay tribute to his teammates, including those squad members not involved: "I want to dedicate the goal I scored to all my teammates who missed out on playing."

The competition's focus on furthering the participants' development while ensuring they have a good time is something that is embraced by the coaches and families of the children in action: "We appreciate having a tournament like this. It's really nice to see the kids make friends with lads from other teams," said Alex, the manager of the RC Celta Under-12s. "This is something the kids look forward to all year. They come here brimming with excitement and itching to enjoy every moment," noted Valencia CF youth coach Ignacio.

All in all, the competition is a perfect showcase for the enthusiasm of all the participants, who relish this opportunity to do their best, enjoy themselves and play the sport they love on a great stage.
