As part of World Cancer Day, observed on February 4th, LALIGA joins forces with the Spanish Association Against Cancer to raise awareness about the importance of combining the resources and skills of society around a major initiative against this disease. Therefore, during Matchday 23 in LALIGA EA SPORTS and Matchday 25 in LALIGA HYPERMOTION, "Armbands of Hope" will be on display as part of the "Todos contra el cáncer" (Everyone Against Cancer) campaign, which launched last year.
The campaign aims to raise awareness of the need to reach a 70% survival rate by 2030. With this in mind, LALIGA will make the campaign highly visible on social media and in the stadiums themselves, with messages displayed on scoreboards, on advertising boards, with information also being given during the broadcasts. Additionally, players from the 42 LALIGA clubs will wear a green ribbon as an armband, instead of the black ribbon which is usually worn as a sign of mourning. In addition, the players of LALIGA GENUINE, which is being held this weekend in Cádiz, will also participate in the campaign by wearing bracelets and supporting them on social networks. The idea is to represent hope and survival by positively portraying one of the symbols that most often accompanies the illness.
Alongside LALIGA, other competitions in Spain will join the initiative over the weekend, such as the top men's basketball competition, Liga Endesa; the top men's handball competition, Liga Plenitud; the Royal Spanish Football Federation; the Royal Spanish Rugby Federation and the Kings/Queens League.
